Lewis F. Alexander Jr., 75, Johnson City, died Monday December 31, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.

Lewis was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and the son of the late Lewis Frank Alexander Sr. and Daisy Barnes Alexander.

He retired in 1993 following thirty-four years of service in the Organic Chemical Division of Eastman Kodak Co.

Lewis was a charter member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486 F&AM and the Scottish Rite Temple, Knoxville.

Lewis formerly attended East Tennessee State University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves 397th Transport Company.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and traveling.

Lewis is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Patsy Jones Alexander; two children, Lisa Jane Moates and husband, James, Johnson City, and Angela Victoria Kincaid, Johnson City; one sister, Carol Broyles and husband, Eddie, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Andrew Hodge, Megan Moates, Spencer Kincaid and Emma Grace Kincaid; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the former “O.W.L.S.” group of the church, Dr. Jay Mehta and his nursing staff, Kristy, Sherry and Barbara, Dr. Frank Johnson and his nurse, Linda Counts, Dr. John Crockett and his nurses, Vicky and Coleen, Dr. Herbert Ladley, and special nurse, Charlotte Tolley.

The funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 4, 2013, at 7:30 P.M. in the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 5:00-7:30 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

The graveside committal service with entombment will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the Mausoleum Chapel of Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andrew Hodge, Spencer Kincaid, James L. Moates III, Mark Smith, Randall Roberts, Tim Fagan and Joey Broyles. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M. Saturday to proceed to the cemetery.
